Vaimo Talks: My Vaimo Adventure, Unplugged with Henrik Feld-Jakobsen

Sitting down with Henrik Feld-Jakobsen for an interview felt more like a chat between old friends than a formal conversation. Henrik, Vaimo’s Chief Strategy Officer, has this knack for making discussions engaging and insightful, which is exactly how our talk unfolded. It was an absolute pleasure to dive into my journey with Vaimo, spanning over a decade, and to share a few laughs and learnings along the way.

From my early days as a web developer, fresh out of my own startup adventure, to stepping into the role of Managing Director for Vaimo Nordics, it’s been quite the ride. I’ve worn many hats at Vaimo, from Frontend Lead & Scrum Master to Technical Project Manager, and even Country Manager for both Vaimo UK and Sweden. Reflecting on these roles during the interview, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of nostalgia and pride for how far we’ve come.

Henrik and I delved into the essence of what makes Vaimo tick—its culture. It’s about pushing boundaries, never settling for “good enough,” and always striving for excellence. This mindset has been a cornerstone of my journey at Vaimo and something I strive to instill in our team every day.

We also shared a good chuckle over some of my more memorable moments at Vaimo, like the time I learned the hard way always to double-check a client’s address before a meeting. And, of course, balancing a demanding career with family life, which has its own set of challenges and rewards. My two little ones, a four-year-old and a two-year-old, keep me on my toes and remind me every day of the importance of being present and cherishing every moment.

Ending the interview, I realized how much more I had to share—stories untold, lessons learned, and the everyday magic of working with a team as passionate as Vaimo’s. I’m looking forward to a follow-up with Henrik to dive deeper into these anecdotes and to continue sharing the journey of a business technologist, a legacy Vaimoer, and, most importantly, a father.

A huge thanks to Henrik Feld-Jakobsen for the opportunity to share my story. Here’s to many more conversations and shared successes down the road.
